We launch the project to create naturally effective, long lasting, tide protection forests to protect against tsunamis on May 26th near Sendai Airport.
New tide protection forests should use a variety of trees, appropriate for the area and climate.
The carefully selected trees become a self-sustaining, deep rooted green wall that protects lives and property. Leftover compostable debris from the disaster can be used to create higher ground for planting trees.
These higher mounds will be even more effective against large tsunamis, saving more lives.
